D&AD Awards has announced winners for its 2018 edition. A total of 721 Pencils were awarded across various categories. India won three Pencils on day one and added six more Pencils to its haul on the final day.
McCann Worldgroup India won five out of nine pencils, four for its Immunity Charm campaign for the Ministry of Public Health Afghanistan in the Media, PR, and Creativity for Good categories, and one for its client PayTM’s “sweet change” campaign.
Other agencies won a pencil each. They are listed below:
- FCB India picked up an award for ‘No Conditions Apply – Sindoor Khela’ campaign for The Times of India under ‘Community Experience’ category.
- Cheil Worldwide India won for its “The Good Vibes Project” for its client Sense International, in the Digital Design category.
- Ogilvy & Mather won for MP Tourism Development Corporation in Film Advertising Crafts.
- “Roads that Honk” by Hindustan Petroleum in Product Design also took away an award.
With the final count of nine Pencils, India’s performance at this year’s edition of the awards was less impressive than last year’s haul of 12 Pencils. India has never won a Black or White Pencil in the history of the D&AD Awards to date. The Black Pencil is the most coveted award.
Overall, BBDO New York led the pack with 26 Pencils followed by Dentsu (18 Pencils). This year, more than 265 eminent personalities from around the globe have come together to judge this year’s D&AD Awards.
Along with redefining creativity, the awards will give a unique insight into the diversity of talent all over the world. D&AD Awards intends to push the boundaries of creative excellence and exhibit the importance of creativity and its positive impact on the lives of people.
The Pencil levels (Wood, Graphite, Yellow, or Black) will be unveiled on April 26 at the Award Ceremony at The Old Truman Brewery, London.
